PRS Youth: My president did not say ‘forming Malaysia was the best option’

Charles Chad Nissom

KUCHING, Sept 17: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth has refuted Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak’s (PBDS) claim that Tan Sri James Jemut Masing had ever made a statement such as “forming Malaysia was the best option”.

Youth member cum political secretary Charles Chad Nissom in a statement today, asked PBDS president Bobby William to “read the sentences, phrases or even the whole context of the statement again” in regards to Masing’s statement on Sept 16.

He warned Bobby that interpreting someone’s statement wrongly or interpreting other’s statement out of context was “prejudice”.

“He either chose not to read (the statement) carefully, or his understanding of English is questionable,” said Chad.

Chad said this to rebut Bobby, who had poured scorn on Masing’s claim that “forming Malaysia was the best option”.

“In the first place our president didn’t even mentioned ‘forming Malaysia was the best option’. Where did Bobby pluck it out from? The content clearly said ‘keeping the union (of Malaya, Sarawak and Sabah) stable was the best option’.

“All our president said: — keep the union stable, understand each other’s characteristics, and live in peace and harmony. The people must discard these type of opinions because it sows discontent and animosity.

Bobby was reported to have said that he disagreed with Masing’s view that the marriage of the Borneo States with Malaya to form Malaysia was the best option for all Malaysians. — DayakDaily
