PRS Youth mourns demise of father figure Masing

Datuk Snowdan Lawan

KUCHING, Oct 31: The late Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing was a father figure and role model to members of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth, says its chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan.

Snowdan said Masing, as the founder and first president of PRS, was the one who had brought the party to where it stands today.

“His struggle for his principles never faded. He had been the most inspiring. Vocal he might have been, but he ran until his last breath for his people in this beloved State of Sarawak.

“For me, in politics, his words are not only inspiring and motivating but far-reaching when he murmured and said: ‘if we can’t change the direction of the wind, then we adjust our sails’,” Snowdan recalled in a statement today.

Together with Sarawak, he said, PRS Youth mourns one of the State’s greatest leaders who was an outstanding, consistent, and brave individual throughout his political career.

“To his family, words seems feeble and may not suffice to express our sincere condolences. The heartfelt pain we can’t comprehend. We bear it with them,” said Snowdan.

Masing passed away at 7.05am at the age of 72 this morning at Normah Sarawak Medical Centre due to complications from Covid-19. He tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept 28. — DayakDaily
