KUCHING, July 15: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) has assured fellow Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties that it will go all out to assist them to ensure victory for the four-party coalition in the next state election due by 2021.

PRS president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing added that in areas where his party has no elected representatives, it will assist the GPS representatives in that area to gain more support.

“Like the function we have in Serembu on Saturday night, it was PRS forming a division there.

“Serembu of course belongs to PBB (Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu), but YB Miro (Simuh) and PBB can be rest assured that he has the backing of PRS.

“With PRS’ backing, you will have no problem as we do not sabotage the person that we support. We will not support anybody who is not our friend,” Masing told DayakDaily at the PRS Gawai closing ceremony held at the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) headquarters here yesterday.

He also expressed hope that their goodwill gesture be reciprocated by other GPS component parties.

“In areas where we don’t have YBs we will help them if they belong to GPS. We hope that feeling is reciprocated by the component parties,” he reiterated.

Masing, who is also Deputy Chief Minister also warned Parti Sarawak Bersatu to stop undermining the coalition.

“They are undermining us. But in GPS, our principle is, friends will help friends to the full (sic),” he added.

Meanwhile, Miro welcomed PRS’ initiative in setting up a branch in his area as it will consolidate GPS.

“I’m very thankful to Tan Sri Masing as this will help strengthen GPS in Serembu,” said Miro who is also PBB’s Youth deputy chief

Political secretary to the Chief Minister Charles Chad Nissom said PRS has divisions in all Bidayuh majority areas except in Bukit Semuja for which it plans to set up a branch soon.
