KUCHING, Aug 16: PRS vows to vouch for SUPP in the coming 12th Sarawak state election (PRN12) in exchange for the latter’s unwavering support for its Lubok Antu candidate.
“PRS (Parti Rakyat Sarawak) will honour our words in supporting SUPP (Sarawak United Peoples’ Party)/GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) and in return, we want SUPP to support our ‘calon’ (candidate) for Lubok Antu with no hidden agenda as it did during GE14 (14th General Election),” PRS president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing asserted in a statement today.
Emphasising that Engkilili is part of Lubok Antu and the Lubok Antu MP is from PRS, he explained that most of the polling districts in which Barisan Nasional (BN) lost during GE14 were in SUPP strongholds.
“During GE14, PRS/BN lost 1,050 votes in Engkikili and most polling districts in which BN lost was in SUPP/BN strongholds.
“This means either SUPP leaders didn’t try hard enough to support BN or there was element of sabotage by BN component parties against PRS,” Masing disclosed when visiting Rh Sirai in Engkilili today.
In stating this, he reiterated that GPS would face difficulties in the PRN12 if SUPP were to show the same trend of insincerity in Engkilili.
Meanwhile, Masing highlighted that his visit to Engkilili today with SUPP president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian was to strengthen the support of Engkilili people for GPS.
During the function, Masing, Dr Sim and Batang Ai assemblyman Datuk Malcolm Mussen Lamoh collectively gave RM36,000 to fund the cementing of foot paths in front of Rh Sirai. — DayakDaily
