KUCHING, Jan 29: PRS president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing has advised all the party’s assemblymen to serve their constituents until the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

He asserted it is imperative for them to serve the people who have elected them until their term expires when the DUN is dissolved to pave way for the next state election.

Masing who is also Deputy Chief Minister, noted that in any election, the party will nominate its candidates but it depends on the chairman of the coalition, in this case, the chairman of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), to decide who stand as candidates.

“All PRS (Parti Rakyat Sarawak) YBs are asked to serve their ‘kawasan’ (constituencies) till the end. PRS will nominate its ‘calon’ (candidates) and CM will make the final decision as he is the Chairman of GPS,” Masing told DayakDaily here today.

He reiterated that since the current DUN tenure is only set to expire in April next year, thus, all assemblymen from PRS are required to serve until then.

In the last state election held in 2016, all eleven seats allocated to PRS were won by its candidates. The eleven PRS assemblymen are Masing himself, who is also Baleh assemblyman, Datuk Liwan Lagang (Belaga), Datuk John Sikie Tayai (Kakus), Datuk Mong Dagang (Bukit Begunan) Datuk Snowdan Lawan (Balai Ringin), Datuk Malcolm Mussem Lamoh (Batang Ai), Majang Renggie (Samalaju), Alexander Vincent (Ngemah), Christopher Gira (Tamin), Kennedy Chukpai Ugon (Murum) and Wilson Nyabong (Pelagus).

Meanwhile, on rumours that Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) may want to use the Barisan Nasional (BN) symbol, Masing said it just goes to prove that the party is confused and accused the party of being “pollical wanderers”.

“They just want to mislead the rakyat. Of course the people, especially the older voters, will still look up at the ‘dacing’ (BN symbol) as it has been there for the past 30 to 40 years.

“That’s why GPS has to work harder and smarter to counter these “political wanderers” whose job is only to confuse the people as they are neither here nor there,” he added, adding that the people are now smarter and able to discern PSB’s alleged political charade. — DayakDaily
