KUCHING, Sept 29:  Malaysian automotive company, Proton Holdings Berhad (Proton) held its inaugural Proton 1 Tank Adventure programme in Sarawak on Saturday.

Proton deputy director of market intelligence Salawati Mohd Yusoff said that the event held here is the third leg, and the aim is to show that Proton owners can easily replicate fuel economy figures, obtained during the 1 Tank Adventure.

Before the flagging off ceremony, Salawati said 2019 has been a very exciting year for Proton.

She disclosed that Proton had delivered five new products in less than a year namely Proton X70 (launched in December 2018), Proton Exora, Proton Iriz, Proton Saga and Proton Pesona.

For participants of Proton 1 Tank Adventure programme, three of the new Proton products, namely the 2019 Proton Iriz, Proton Persona and Proton Saga are used.

Salawati disclosed that during the first leg in Peninsular Malaysia, 1 Tank Adventure participants drove 650km and the best fuel consumption figure posted was 4.94L/100km by a team driving the Proton Iriz.

“In the second leg in Sabah over the last weekend, participants drove to the Northern Tip of Borneo and to the foot of Mount Kinabalu,” she said.

She said because of the tough driving conditions, the best fuel consumption figure posted was 5.75L/100km by the Proton Saga.

“By the end of the event, I hope you will have a better understanding of how far Proton has come with its products,” she said. — DayakDaily
