KUCHING, 24 Sept 2025: Pet owners across Sarawak are encouraged to register for a free cat rabies vaccination programme taking place from Sept 26 to 28 at selected veterinary clinics.

The initiative, jointly organised by the Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) and the Sarawak Veterinary Association (SVA), and sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim, aims to curb the spread of rabies and safeguard both pets and local communities.

According to SSPCA, the programme is open to cats aged three months and above, with a limit of two cats per household. Only domestic short hair cats in good health and not pregnant are eligible.

“The vaccination drive will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, with limited vaccine stocks available,” SSPCA said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 23).

The campaign will be carried out at veterinary clinics in Kuching, Sibu, Miri, and Mukah:

Kuching: Registration is via Google Form on SSPCA’s official Instagram and Facebook pages. Vaccinations will be available at 10 clinics, including Animal Central Veterinary Clinic, AnyPets Veterinary Clinic, Ai Love Animal Clinic, Caring Paws Veterinary Clinic, City Veterinary Centre, Chai Veterinary Clinic, Paws Medics Vet Clinic and Surgery, Primavet Animal Clinic, Ting & Lu Veterinary Centre, and Vet Corner Veterinary Centre.

Miri: Bettie Veterinary Clinic and Surgery will accept registrations through a Google Form on the Zero Strays Miri Facebook page, while Brighton Veterinary Clinic will allow direct registration at the clinic.

Sibu: Union Veterinary Clinic will take registrations by phone.

Mukah: I-Care Veterinary Clinic will also accommodate phone registrations.
