KUCHING, July 14: Tuition centres including home tuition, language centres, skills training centres and all private learning and enrichment centres in Sarawak are still not allowed to reopen under Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) which kicks in today.

As per the updated standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Phase 2 released yesterday, all schools under the Ministry of Education (MOE) as well as all private and public higher learning institutions, skills training institutions, tahfiz centres and other education institutions under the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) are not permitted to resume physical classes for the meantime.

The reopening or resumption of physical classes by educational institutions are subjected to the decisions to be announced by MOE and MoHE as for now all face-to-face learning and teaching activities are still not permitted except for students with needs.

Exceptions would be given to students of international schools and expatriate schools to sit for international examinations according to the schedules by international examination bodies.

Higher learning institution (IPT) students with needs are also allowed to return to campus with permits to travel across states or districts.

International examinations and professional bodies as well as research activities that require laboratory facilities at IPTs are permitted according to SOPs and movement must be accompanied by confirmation by MoHE or the respective IPT.

All students who are living on campus are also allowed to remain on campus and continue with hybrid learning. — DayakDaily
