Prime Minister arrives in Kuching for two-day official visit

KUCHING, Jan 19: Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Kuching today for a two-day official visit.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), it is his first visit to Sarawak after he was appointed the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Anwar arrived at Kuching International Airport (KIA) using a special flight at 4.02pm, and was greeted by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, together with Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and other officials.


The Prime Minister began his visit today by visiting Abang Johari at the Premier’s official residence at 4:30pm.

In the evening, Anwar is scheduled to attend a State banquet at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

Tomorrow, the Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) Implementation Action Meeting at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex in the morning and will be performing Friday prayers at Masjid Jamek in Petra Jaya.

Following that, the Prime Minister is then scheduled to attend the ‘Program Jelajah Kerajaan Perpaduan–Kenduri Rakyat’ at Kubah Ria in the afternoon.

He will end his visit by paying a courtesy call on His Excellency Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud in Demak Jaya, Bako. — DayakDaily
