KUCHING, Dec 29: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of heightened humidity leading to potential rainfall due to an anticipated concentration of wind in the western region of Sarawak and the southern part of the Peninsular from Saturday (Dec 30) until Jan 4, 2024.

According to the weather forecast, MetMalaysia indicates the likelihood of thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds in various states during the afternoon and night.

The forecast predicts rain and thunderstorms across Sarawak over the weekend.

Today (Dec 29), thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon in selected locations in Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, and Bintulu, with evening showers in Sri Aman, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri, and Limbang.

For Saturday (Dec 30), morning rain is anticipated in some Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, and Kapit regions. Thunderstorms are forecasted for the afternoon in Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, and Bintulu. Rain is expected in most districts at night, excluding Mukah.

On Sunday (Dec 31), morning showers are expected in Mukah, with thunderstorms anticipated in the afternoon in selected areas of Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri, and Limbang.
