KUCHING, April 29: Sarawak’s wine brewing company Honlynn Distillery has launched a premium langkau beverage styled as ‘XXX’ with a touch of local cultural art elements at Chabo Dine & Bar last Thursday night (April 27).

The XXX label was represented by four different contemporary pop art designs depicting distinctive Sarawak elements, namely ‘The Space Monkey’, ‘Flowers Alive’ (rafflesia), ‘Headhunter’ (skull), and ‘Bird of Paradise’ (hornbill).

The digital artwork created by Carter Wei of Carus Group was incorporated into T-shirts by homegrown Sarawak-themed fashion company Lit Series.

These designs were later styled by local fashion designers, namely Roa Skye, By Lhuna, Andy Sulaiman, Yacutha, and Kuala Lumpur’s Syomirizwa Gupta, and featured as the latest LIT Series’s XXX Collection on the same night.

LIT Series founder Geraldine Sim said the XXX designs reflect the true modern global Sarawak and the sentiment of the current generation.

“We are proud to wear these shirts in the streets or at world-class international events as a true representation that Sarawak is truly LIT,” she said.

At the same time, Honlynn Distillery director Keelan Woon said XXX aims to dispel the notion that langkau is a cheap and dangerous drink, pointing out that the langkau beverage showcased in four different cocktails was concocted by Chabo’s visiting mixologist Helen Grav.

“At Honlynn, we ensure our distillation processes are thoroughly clean and pedantic—thus, XXX is a safe, good and respectable product,” he stated. — DayakDaily
