KUCHING, July 12: The world is beginning to recognise Sarawak’s policies and efforts in environmental sustainability and green energy, as reflected by international interest and acknowledgement at global platforms.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg shared that just two days ago, he was in Tokyo, Japan, attending the World Hydrogen Asia 2025 conference, where he had the opportunity to speak on a panel discussing Sarawak’s policies and its commitment to environmental preservation and clean energy transition.

“During the panel discussion, they acknowledged what Sarawak has done for the future of the world from the perspective of our environment and green energy,” he said when officiating the Sarawak-level International Day of Forests 2025 celebration held at the Forest Research Centre here today.

He also revealed that while he was unable to attend the recent Annual Meeting of the New Champions (often referred to as Summer Davos) in Tianjin, China, he has been informed that the World Economic Forum (WEF) may extend an invitation for him to present Sarawak’s development policies at the main event — the WEF Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland.

This, he said, is a clear indication that Sarawak’s sustainability efforts are being acknowledged at the global level.

“I was not able to attend the WEF event in Tianjin recently, but I have been informed that they will invite me to share about our policies at the WEF in Davos. This means the world has acknowledged us,” he added. — DayakDaily
