Premier to unveil Sarawak Energy Transition Policy at Aug 11 Public-Industry Engagement Day

KUCHING, Aug 9: The Sarawak government will launch the Sarawak Energy Transition Policy (SET-P) at the upcoming Public-Industry Engagement Day hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESty) on Aug 11 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

Scheduled from 1.30pm to 5.30pm, the inaugural event aims to raise public and industry awareness, while fostering meaningful dialogue with stakeholders on three of Sarawak’s key forward-looking policies related to energy and sustainability, namely the Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint (SSB), the Sarawak Hydrogen Economy Roadmap (SHER), and the Sarawak Energy Transition Policy (SET-P).

According to a media release today, the ministry emphasised that interactive sessions will also allow industry players, community representatives, and civil society members to gain critical insights into the policies, including their potential impact, opportunities for participation, and avenues for investment or collaboration.

A major highlight of the programme will be the official launch of the SET-P, to be officiated by the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The policy outlines the Sarawak’s comprehensive strategies for transitioning towards a cleaner, more resilient, and inclusive energy landscape.

MEESty said the event is designed not only to present policy directions but also to encourage constructive exchanges between the government and stakeholders to ensure alignment with Sarawak’s long-term energy transition agenda.
