The prestigious award is conferred in acknowledgment of Abang Johari’s extraordinary efforts in promoting regional exchanges and strengthening bilateral understanding between Japan and Malaysia.

The Premier arrived at Narita International Airport at 8.50pm last night, where he was welcomed by Malaysia’s Ambassador to Japan, Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany.

During the visit, Abang Johari is also scheduled to deliver a message marking the 30th anniversary of collaboration between the Japan-Malaysia Association (JMA) and the Sarawak Forest Department. The milestone reflects three decades of close partnership in tropical rainforest restoration efforts.

The Premier has played a pivotal role in advancing economic and energy collaborations, particularly in renewable energy sectors such as hydrogen and ammonia. His leadership has also strengthened ties with major Japanese corporations to ensure long-term energy security through stable liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies.

In addition, the Premier has championed partnerships with Japanese universities and organisations in forest conservation, biodiversity, and sustainable development, reinforcing Sarawak’s vision of becoming a green, energy-based economy. – DayakDaily
