KUCHING, Dec 8: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is set to meet with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Members of Parliament (MPs) tonight ahead of the tabling of the Carbon Trading Bill in the Dewan Rakyat.
Abang Johari stated that the meeting will focus on deliberating the proposed legislation for the implementation of carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS), a key initiative in which Sarawak plays a pivotal role.
āI will fly to Kuala Lumpur tonight to meet with our MPs as a Bill is being tabled in Parliament that indirectly touches on our rights. I want our MPs to stand firm and ensure our rights are protected in this new legislation.
āHowever, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has assured that the Bill will align harmoniously with both federal and State laws with regards to the subject matter,ā he said when speaking during Sarawak United Peoplesā Partyās (SUPP) Triennial Delegate Conference held at Saati Hall, SUPP headquarters here today.
