KUCHING, July 31: This year’s Sarawak Integrity Day is expected to draw 12,000 participants, both in person and virtually, on Aug 12 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
In a report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, said the event would serve as the Sarawak government’s main platform to strengthen a culture of integrity, good governance, and anti-corruption efforts among civil servants and the wider community.
Speaking during a press conference held here today, he said that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is scheduled to officiate the event, with around 2,000 participants expected to attend in person, while another 10,000 will join virtually.
He added that the Sarawak Integrity, Governance, and Anti-Corruption Strengthening Conference (PINTAR) 2026 is also being organised in conjunction with the Sarawak Integrity Day celebration.
“Invited speakers include a representative from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Annika Whitesters.
“In addition, participants will have the opportunity to attend a special presentation by Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, who recently retired as deputy inspector-general of police, as well as Dato’ Azmi Kamaruzaman, deputy chief commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), he said.
He said that throughout the conference, participants will have the opportunity to understand current challenges better while enhancing their capacity to address issues of abuse of power, corruption, and weaknesses in governance. — DayakDaily
