KUCHING, Aug 3: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has clarified that Sarawak’s ‘White House’ is not a residential building but an administrative office for the Sarawak government.

During a press conference at Raia Hotel, Abang Johari explained that the new complex in Petra Jaya is designed with advanced security features and will serve as a data centre for the Sarawak government.

He stated that the construction of the new complex is necessary because the current government building at Wisma Bapa Malaysia has become a public building with unrestricted access.

The clarification came in response to rumors suggesting that the new complex would serve as the official residence-cum-administrative office of the Premier of Sarawak.

On July 15, it was reported that a new complex currently under construction in Petra Jaya is set to be ‘The White House’ of Sarawak.
