KUCHING, Jan 7: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg attended the 11th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat at the Perdana Putra Complex in Putrajaya today.
According to a news report by TVS, the meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, with Singapore’s Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, also in attendance.
Representing Malaysia, other key figures included Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, Economic Minister Rafizi Ramli, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
Following the meeting, Abang Johari and fellow delegates were scheduled to join a joint press conference with the government leaders before witnessing the exchange of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) Joint Agreement.
Additionally, six memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and one Letter of Intent (LOI) were signed, addressing key areas such as education, women’s and social welfare, climate change, carbon capture and storage, urban development, and cross-border crime prevention.
Abang Johari later attended a luncheon with the Malaysian and Singaporean government delegations before holding a closed-door meeting with Anwar in the afternoon.
Abang Johari, who will remain in the capital until Jan 9, is also scheduled to attend the Malaysia Economic Forum on Thursday. — DayakDaily
