KUCHING, April 19: Sarawak’s carbon capture initiatives and use of hydrogen as green energy have captured the world’s attention, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Abang Johari said that is why he was invited to give a speech in Poland about how Sarawak is playing its part in addressing climate change.

“The world body monitors what we are doing in Sarawak, and that is why I was invited to give my opinion on the matter.

“The key is the willpower, whether the government is committed or not (to address climate change),” he told reporters after a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house visit at Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) Sarawak Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi’s residence in Petra Jaya yesterday (April 18).

Today (April 19), Abang Johari is scheduled to travel to Poland to participate in the Central European Hydrogen Technology Forum and The Central European Decarbonisation Forum, which will be held in Poznan from April 24 to 25.

He will be discussing Sarawak’s perspective and experience with initiatives related to energy transition, renewal energy security, decarbonsation, and environmental sustainability. — DayakDaily
