KUCHING, March 25: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg brought cheer to Gedong constituents as they spent an evening to ‘sungkei’ (break fast) together at Masjid Al-Kawthar here today.
Abang Johari, who is Gedong assemblyman, also stayed to carry out the Maghrib, Isyak, and tarawih prayers with the local Muslim community.
He also handed over cash assistance to two mosques and 10 surau in the Gedong constituency.
The recipients were Masjid Al-Kawthar of Kpg Perintah, Masjid Darul Iman of Kpg Gumpey, Surau Nur Addin of Kpg Tengah Gedong, Surau As-Sobirin of Kpg Tengah Lama, Surau Darul Islam of Kpg Tengah Hulu, Surau Nurul Islam of Kpg Segera Jaya Gedong, Surau Darul Madinah of Kpg Kanchong Jaya, Surau As-Syakirin of Kpg Kanchong Baru, Surau At-Muttaqin of Kpg Lot Fasa 1, Surau Nurul Hidayah of Kpg Lalang Hilir Gedong, Surau Darul Ibadah of Kpg Lalang Tengah, and Surau At-Taibin of Kpg Lalang Mayak.
Also present were Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts-cum-Asajaya assemblyman Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development (Infrastructure Development) and Sadong Jaya assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo; Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee; Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris; Gedong assemblyman’s special representative Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais; Samarahan acting resident Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang; Gedong district officer Abdul Khalid Manap; and Temenggong for Iban community in Samarahan, Temenggong Geoffrey Mamat Kuchai.
