KUCHING, Dec 9: Some Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) negotiations cannot be resolved within one month as they involve legislation, says Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Responding to a reporter’s query on what transpired during his meeting with Sarawak’s Federal Cabinet ministers yesterday, he revealed that the topic discussed was issues pertaining to the MA63.
“There are some problems that can be solved within a month, while there are some related to legislation that I don’t think can be solved within a month. Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusuf has taken note of this.
“I even had a discussion with Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim himself about this matter several days ago where he will pay attention to the MA63 problem and the mechanism in developing federal projects in Sarawak with regards to the establishment of a trust fund.
“With the mechanism, I am confident that the bureaucracy (process) will not be that thick at all. What is important will be empowerment or devolution of power,” he told reporters after officiating at the opening ceremony of the Sarawak-level Falak (Astronomy) Seminar held at Sarawak Islamic Information Centre (SIIC) here today. ā DayakDaily
