KUCHING, March 15: Sarawak’s experience with renewable energy has been recognised by the Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), says Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He said Jokowi insisted on collaborating with Sarawak because of Sarawak’s expertise in clean energy generation.
“Three weeks ago, I was invited by the President of Indonesia Jokowi to continue the efforts together with Indonesia to build the (hydroelectric) dam in North Kalimantan.
“Why did they insist on Sarawak’s help? (Jokowi said to me,) ”Pak’ (Sir), Sarawak has the experience. ‘Pak’, please help us in Indonesia.’
“So, I, as a Muslim who is leading Sarawak, decided that we will share our experience with our friends in Indonesia,” said Abang Johari when officiating at the Al-Quran Recitation and Memorization opening ceremony held in Bintulu tonight.
He, therefore, expressed gratitude to God for blessing Sarawak with abundant resources which can be added value to, to generate income for the region. — DayakDaily
