KUCHING, Aug 19: The RM35 million Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Salcra) plant to produce animal feed is expected to operate by year-end, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abang Johari said the plant, which is under construction in Saratok, is tasked to produce animal feed from palm oil waste.
“This is because Salcra has a lot of palm oil plantations, and they just need to collect the waste from their plantation and transport it to the central area where the animal feed will be produced.
“This will help to reduce our reliance on the import of animal feed,” he told a press conference at Panggau Dayak Building today.
He said apart from animal feed, they will also include the production of fertiliser from biomass out of the plant.
“This means that we have to change the business concept to be based on the resources we have that can add value to our economic activity,” he added. — DayakDaily
