KUCHING, Dec 3: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has suggested Sarawak Regatta be organised biennially.
This comes following the emergence of smaller regattas organised in various parts of the State.
“I have spoken to Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah that our regattas are being organised in many places with another one will be held in Lingga soon.
“Therefore, if possible, we can organise the Sarawak Regatta once in two years,” he said when officiating at the closing ceremony for Telaga Air Regatta Festival at Kampung Telaga Air here today.
Abang Johari further said that Sarawak is home to various cultures and therefore, every year will be filled with festivities.
“That is why we can hold the Regatta alternately with other activities that can bring benefit to the local folk,” he added. — DayakDaily
