KUCHING, Jan 14: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim acknowledged that Sarawak’s economy is solid, says Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

According to the Sarawak Premier, he received a call from Anwar requesting breakfast together after his appointment as Prime Minister.

During the call, Abang Johari explained that Anwar jokingly told him that he was briefed regarding the country’s financial situation, which is in a bad position with many debts.

Boleh Sarawak kasi saya pinjam kah (Can I borrow from Sarawak)? In other words, he acknowledged that Sarawak’s economy is strong,” said Abang Johari during the official opening ceremony of Bidayuh Cultural Village, Gawai Bani Redeems, and Redeems’ 25th-anniversary celebration dinner held at the Redeems Centre in Singai.

Apart from that, Abang Johari said that the world is also looking at Sarawak as far as green energy is concerned.

Two days ago, he disclosed, the executive from Commonwealth based in London came to see him because they heard Sarawak would produce green energy, including hydrogen.

“They are asking me how we do. Mind you, the people from London are coming to Kuching to learn,” he added. — DayakDaily
