KUCHING, July 17: The new Masjid Al-Umran at Kampung Tebaang, Daro, is expected to become a centre for community unity through religious, educational, and community-based programmes.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, the mosque, which was built at a cost of approximately RM5 million, can accommodate up to 1,000 worshippers, providing a more comfortable and modern place of worship for the local community.

The opening of the mosque was officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today, who also carried out his Friday prayers at the mosque.

The construction of the mosque reflects the Sarawak government’s continued commitment to strengthening Islamic institutions while providing modern, comfortable, and conducive facilities for worship.

The new facility is also expected to promote Islamic activities through Quranic classes, religious lectures, educational programmes, and welfare initiatives involving all segments of the community.

Its construction aligns with the Sarawak government’s aspiration to ensure physical development progresses alongside human capital development and the spiritual well-being of the people, particularly in rural areas.
