KUCHING, April 29: Mukah has been fully integrated with Kuala Rajang through bridges to boost the local economy.

According to Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, previously, when Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud was developing the area, the Sarawak government could not come up with the full infrastructure for Mukah due to the high cost of construction.

“Today, we manage to connect all areas in Mukah and Kuala Rajang though bridges that we have built such as Batang Lasak which costs more than RM400 million,” he said when officiating at the Mukah Kaul Festival 2023 in Mukah today.

He said the Sarawak government has also built the Batang Paloh bridge, connecting Pulau Bruit from the mainland.

This is followed by the development in the Kuala Rajang area from Sarikei as well as the construction of the Batang Igan bridge which will be completed within two to three years.

“That will complete the connection for the whole of Mukah.

“This is what we do in the government. When we talk, we deliver. ‘Kita tidak cakap-cakap ajak’ (we are not just words),” he added. — DayakDaily
