KUCHING, May 11: Former Senate president, the late Datuk Mutang Tagal, continues to be remembered for his unwavering dedication to Parti Pusaka Bumiputera (PBB), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), and his tireless efforts in assisting the Orang Ulu community

“He (Mutang) was a member of the parliament for two terms. Despite the fact that he served two terms, his commitment is still there,” said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg after the GPS highest leadership council meeting at PBB headquarters today.

Abang Johari said that he had the opportunity to pay a visit to the late Mutang on Wednesday (May 8).

“At that time, he (Mutang) was quite critical but there was a possibility that he can be saved provided his condition improved.

“But then on Thursday (May 9), his condition was not that stable, so the major surgery could not be done,” Abang Johari added.

When asked regarding the appointment of a new Dewan Negara president, Abang Johari said that the discussion has yet to take place so as to pay their respects to the late Mutang.

“The appointment (of the Dewan Negara president) is done by the Agong after consultation with the Prime Minister,” he said. — DayakDaily
