“Although no specific allocation has been set for the plan, the ministry will strive to realise the Premier of Sarawak’s vision.

“We cannot consider whether this plan is listed under the 13th Malaysia Plan or included in the budget. We need to respect the Premier’s decision,” he said while speaking at the SAC Appreciation Night 2026 here on Monday (Apr 6), as reported by TVS.

On the location, he said that it has been proposed that the office be redeveloped at Rumah Sarawak along Jalan Taman Budaya, as its operations would not be suitable if located within the Sarawak Performing Arts Centre.

Abdul Karim, who is also the Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development, said that the Premier had proposed the location.

In addition, he emphasised the SAC’s role in highlighting and promoting arts and culture in Sarawak.

Also present during the programme were the deputy ministers of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan and Datuk Sebastian Ting. — DayakDaily
