KUCHING, Nov 30: The free installation of gas supply service using pipelines will be extended in other areas in Sarawak once Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) has enough funds, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He said for a start, the service installation project is currently being implemented in Miri as it was used there previously.
For the project in Miri, the installation costs about RM3,500 per household, and it is being borne by Petros.
“If our (Petros) revenue increases and we have sufficient resources of gas, I do not see why we could not give it (installation) for free to the people.
“If it is successful here, we will analyse the cost, and we will implement the same in other areas such as in Kuching,” he told a press conference after visiting the Quadruplex Taman Ceria (QTC) housing estate in Permyjaya, Miri today.
He added that the service will also be extended to businesses once the necessary infrastructure is ready. — DayakDaily
