Premier extends condolences, pays final respects to late husband of TROPI’s former director

KUCHING, Feb 11: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg paid a visit to the home of Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute (TROPI) former director Datu Dr Lulie Melling following the passing of her husband, the late James Alfred Chabu, today.

His presence underscored the Sarawak government’s compassion and solidarity with the bereaved family during this difficult period, according to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news.

In extending his condolences to Lulie, the Premier also met with family members and offered words of comfort and strength as they come to terms with their loss.

Minister in the Premier’s Department Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai and Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Martin Ben were also present to pay their final respects and convey their sympathies.

Former Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion, who was also in attendance, described the late James’ passing as a significant loss to many.

“James’ passing is deeply felt by many, particularly his friends and acquaintances.

“He was a kind-hearted and approachable person, well regarded by all,” he said when met by reporters.

James passed away on Tuesday (Feb 10) at the age of 65.

He is remembered as a warm and affable individual whose passing leaves a profound void not only within his family, but also among friends and close associates. — DayakDaily
