KUCHING, Feb 8: A dual carriageway is set to be built from Yayasan Sarawak roundabout to Pantai Damai, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) yesterday (Feb 7), Abang Johari said the construction of the road will include a special lane for the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system, bicycles and pedestrians.
He added that projects involving the construction of new roads would indirectly enable the government to open new housing areas to accommodate the growing population.
He said this when attending a dinner ceremony together with ‘Kejiranan Mesra’ (KJM) held at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) building on Wednesday (Feb 7).
He added that with the increasing population in Kuching, the construction of new roads would also enable the government to open up with new housing schemes. — DayakDaily
