Reflecting on the progress made, he noted that Sarawak has achieved significant milestones under the 12MP, including infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, electricity and water supply, as well as socio-economic initiatives like small and medium enterprise (SME) development and social safety net programmes.

“In 2025, let us remain steadfast in advancing Sarawak toward becoming a prosperous, thriving, and inclusive State. With various development initiatives underway and planned, I am confident Sarawak will continue to progress through sustainable and enduring policies,” he said in his New Year 2025 message today.

Abang Johari highlighted that 2025 will also see a mid-term review of the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) to evaluate the success of its programmes and projects.

He expressed confidence in the continued execution of government-funded initiatives, including infrastructure projects, water supply schemes, internet connectivity upgrades, and social welfare programmes, all aimed at achieving the goals of PCDS by 2030.

“High-impact projects are also in the pipeline, including the development of a deep-sea port and a new international airport in Kuching.

“Additionally, the modern agriculture sector will be driven by advanced technologies. The year 2025 will also serve as a preparatory period for the government to introduce free higher education, scheduled for implementation in 2026,” he said.

Abang Johari underscored the importance of approaching the new year with a renewed spirit, stronger determination, and greater aspirations.

He expressed pride in Sarawak’s achievements over the past year, attributing them to the cooperation, unity, and hard work of all layers of society.

“Let us work together to ensure that every Sarawakian enjoys the benefits of development, regardless of background, religion, or race. The unity we have fostered remains the cornerstone of our strength to face challenges and achieve success.

“Finally, I wish everyone a Happy New Year 2025. May this year bring happiness, blessings, and success to us all,” he said, extending heartfelt greetings to all Sarawakians. — DayakDaily
