KUCHING, July 17: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg attended an appreciation ceremony for former State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCKK) here last night (July 16).

According to a report by Sarawak Information Department, the ceremony aimed to appreciate Jaul’s service of 42 years in the Sarawak civil service.

Acting State Secretary Dato Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki described Jaul as firm, approachable, and thorough in many matters.

Jaul, famous for his motto ‘Service, Service and Service’, was also presented the Sarawak Public Service Figure Award by Abang Johari.

Meanwhile, Jaul said civil servants could improve their service to the people by putting themselves into their shoes and empathising with the people.

“Only then do we realise the importance of our roles as civil servants who work for the benefit of the people.

“Thank you to everyone involved as well as for the support given to me throughout my career; all these have been an extraordinary part of my life,” he said.

Earlier in his speech, Abang Johari shared his experience of working with Jaul in various developments in terms of economy, State administration, industrialisation, economic digitalisation and Sarawak’s achievements.

The Premier also hoped that the State civil service would continue to be creative, innovative, and committed to helping Sarawak’s authority to convey the government’s agenda to the people.
