Premier approves RM28 million to upgrade SMK Agama Tun Ahmad Zaidi, replace aging school buses

KUCHING, Sept 25: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has approved a total of RM28 million in funding for the physical upgrade of SMK Agama Tun Ahmad Zaidi (TUNAZ) and school bus replacements.

He announced this while attending an appreciation dinner at Dewan Imtiyaz, SMK Agama TUNAZ here last night (Sept 24).


“The principal proposed to me in her RM10 million budget to upgrade the school buildings, hostel, and the teachers’ quarters.

“Just now, I asked whether the school has any buses. The principal said there are, but (the buses are) very old. So, we’ll replace the old buses as well.

“Another thing is the development of human capital. This we do it within our means, so (I’ll allocate) another RM1 million.

“So, altogether, I approve RM28 million (for the school) tonight,” said Abang Johari in his speech.

Meanwhile, he urged the teachers and students of SMK Agama TUNAZ to pray for Sarawak’s revenue to increase to enjoy more allocations.

Among those also present were Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunications Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dr Annuar Rapaee, SMK Agama TUNAZ principal Hajah Zainab Hussein, and Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) chairman Abg Jalani Abg Mazadi. — DayakDaily
