Premier Abang Johari graces Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony, reinforcing unity, spiritual values among State leaders

KUCHING, March 25: The Khatam Al-Quran ceremony graced by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on yesterday evening (March 24) served as a powerful symbol of unity and shared spiritual values among the State’s top leadership.

According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, the event was more than just a religious occasion — it provided a meaningful platform for reinforcing Islamic principles while strengthening bonds within the Sarawak administration.

The ceremony began with the Dhuha prayer, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Kauthar by the Premier himself, before proceeding with the Khatam Al-Quran alongside honoured guests.

The presence of the Premier and senior government officials reflected a collective commitment to Islamic values and closer ties between the leadership and the wider community.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh; Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee; and Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Ibrahim Baki, Political Secretary to the Premier Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Sarawak Attorney General Dato Sri Saferi Ali, and Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel.

Earlier in the evening, the Premier also presented Ramadan donations from the Sarawak Islamic Council to ‘Pelajar Kelas Saudara Kita’. — DayakDaily
