Premier Abang Johari attends unity govt meeting to discuss appointment of new Senate president

KUCHING, Jan 23: Premier of Sarawak and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg attended the first meeting of the Unity Government this year in Putrajaya last night (Jan 22).

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The meeting aimed to discuss the appointment of a new Senate president as well as the selection of candidates for the position after the resignation of Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar on Jan 19.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister and GPS Chief Whip Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Shafie Apdal. — DayakDaily
