KUCHING, June 23: The High Court here set July 23 for pre-trial management of a murder case involving a tailor whose body was found in a suitcase.
The case had its first mention before High Court Judge Datuk Lee Heng Cheong here today. The judge set July 23 for pre-trial case management and ordered the court to issue a letter to the legal aid department to appoint a counsel for the accused.
Chong Kong Liang, 29, is charged with murdering Wong Sie Tuang, 51, between July 16, 2019 at about 3pm and July 19 at about 7.35pm.
The victim’s body was found in a suitcase near a bridge at Kampung Pangkalan, Bau on July 19, 2019.
The accused was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Musli Abdul Hamid prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented. — DayakDaily
