Motorcyclist loses life after impact with 4WD

KUCHING, Jan 1: A pothole in Jalan Seruyuk-Kampung Sg Ladong in Simunjan turned into a deadly road hazard when a motorcyclist lost control.

The accident happened around 2pm yesterday (Dec 31) when biker Mohamad Hazman Dor, 26, lost control after hitting a pothole, then swerved onto the opposite lane and crashed onto the side of a 4WD truck.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said due to the impact of the collision, the victim was thrown off his bike and landed on the roadside near a banana plantation.

“The 58-year-old truck driver was on his way home in Sebangan from Simunjan when collided by the biker who was from Sebuyau and heading towards Simunjan,” he added.

Paramedics from Simunjan Hospital pronounced the victim dead on the scene.

“The road is straight and the road surface is dried with small potholes in several areas. The weather was also good,” Alexson revealed.

Police have also sketched out and taken photos of the accident scene.
