Cops: Woman lodges report daughter allegedly murdered in Taiwan

SIBU, Oct 30: A woman has lodged a police report today saying that her daughter, a student of a university in Taiwan has been allegedly murdered.

Sibu district police chief, Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the 45-year old saleswoman had filed her report at Sibu Central Police Station today.

“The woman said she received news last night Oct 29) from Evergreen University Taiwan that her daughter Irene Chung,24 had been murdered and her body was found in Alian Mountain in Kaohsiung, Taiwan,” he said.

Asst Comm Stanley said the woman in her report was asking for the Malaysian Government to monitor the investigation on the case and also that they want to go to Taiwan to claim the body.

Meanwhile according to CNA (Channel News Asia) police in Taiwan had arrested a suspect, surnamed Liang, on Oct 29 for the alleged murder.

The report said that the suspect had confessed killing the woman, surnamed Chung, 24 by strangulation.

The victim was earlier on Oct 28 found missing by her hostel mates. – DayakDaily
