KUCHING, Dec 21: Police have confirmed the discovery of a body belonging to a 29-year-old man within an apartment near Jalan Tun Jugah last Monday (Dec 18).

Acting Kuching District Police Chief, Supt Merbin Lisa, stated that the Kuching Police Headquarters received information regarding the incident at approximately 6.17am.

“The police conducted investigation around the scene, and the victim was pronounced dead by attending paramedics.

“Initial findings at the location did not reveal any criminal elements,” he said in a statement today.

However, Merbin emphasised a comprehensive investigation is ongoing, covering all aspects of the case.

“The investigation is currently classified under a ‘sudden death report’ (SDR) and is being led by Sekama Police Station chief ASP Will Jihem,” he explained.

Upon completion of the investigation, Merbin emphasised that the case will be forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Department.

With that, Merbin urged the public to refrain from making unverified and inaccurate statements related to the case to allow the police to conduct a thorough investigation.

Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to contact the Kuching Police Headquarters (IPD) Control Centre at 082-244444 or the nearest police station.

This development followed a statement from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president Voon Lee Shan, who urged the police not to delay their investigation after a family member of the deceased suspected foul play in his brother’s death.

Seeking justice urgently, the desperate sibling sought Voon’s assistance and filed a police report on Dec 19, urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation. — DayakDaily
