Police nab motorcycle thieves

MIRI, Dec 19: Police on Wednesday (Dec 18) detained two local men for their alleged involvement in motorcycle theft and recovered dismantled motorcycle parts inside a ditch in Piasau Jaya Phase 2.

The motorcycle, worth around RM3,000 was reported stolen on December 15 by the complainant upon discovering it missing from the parking lot of a homestay in the city centre.


The suspects, aged 33 and 43 respectively, were detained in two separate locations during an operation dubbed ‘Ops Krismas’ led by Inspector Fredly Juing.

The first suspect was apprehended at Kampung Lereng Bukit around 2.15pm while the second suspect at Jalan Chia Tze Chin three hours later.

Miri Police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah disclosed that the two were being detained at the police station for questioning.

The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for theft of a motor vehicle.—DayakDaily

Parts of the dismantled motorcycle were recovered.
