Police nab convenience store robbery suspects within 24 hours

MIRI, Nov 9: Police arrested two individuals, believed to be suspects in a convenience store robbery, less than 24 hours after their alleged involvement in the incident at Sungai Rait, Jalan Miri-Bintulu.

One of the suspects, aged 40, has seven criminal records, said Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted today.

Both suspects were picked up by Miri Criminal Investigation department team (CID) in two separate raids held between 1.20pm and 2.10pm yesterday.

The other suspect, aged 28, was apprehended at a house at Jalan Pujut 4C, while the older suspect was picked up in Tudan Phase 6.

In the raids, police recovered several stolen items including the stolen car and a machete used in the heist.

The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and 397 of the Penal Code for robbery.

In the Friday incident, the duo not only robbed the shop but also took a car that was parked nearby the premise. — DayakDaily
