SIBU, Dec 27: Police are currently on the hunt for suspects involved in a shooting incident in front of a house on Jalan Lada early yesterday (Dec 26) morning.
Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili confirmed the incident, which occurred at approximately 1.54am, involved four gunshots being fired. No injuries were reported.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the shots targeted the victim’s residence and car. Thankfully, no one was hurt,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Zulkipli said the suspects are believed to include more than one individual and were seen in a black Toyota Vios.
An active operation is underway to track down those responsible.
“This case is being investigated under Section 39 of the Firearms Act 1960 and Section 427 of the Penal Code for offences related to discharging a firearm and causing property damage. The motive behind the incident is still under investigation,” he added.
Zulkipli urged members of the public to come forward with any information on the incident to assist in the investigation.
