Police issue 23 compounds in four districts for Covid-19 SOPs violations

KUCHING, May 8: A total of 23 compounds have been issued by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in four districts in the State for Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) violations.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today said the compounds were issued for various offences in Bintulu (10), Kuching, (7), Mukah (5), and Padawan (1).


“This brings the total number of compounds issued since March 18, 2020, until today to 6,295 compounds,” it said.

The statement noted among the offences committed are not wearing face mask (7), being outside of their home area after 10pm during Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period (7), inter zones traveling without valid permit (5), operating beyond the stipulated time during CMCO period (3), and failure to scan the MySejahtera application (1).

Meanwhile, SDMC disclosed the police have arrested a Zimbabwe citizen in Miri for breaching his quarantine order.

“The man was instructed to undergo a quarantine order at home, but has been out of the house,” it said.

On the same note, SDMC said a total of 47 compounds involving various offences and SOP violations have also been issued by the local authorities (PBT) throughout the State.

It said the compounds were issued for offences such as not updating the registration book (15), not registering with MySejahtera application or registration book (9), incomplete registration details (6), not wearing face mask (4), operating without permit (2), operating beyond the stipulated time (1), organising a live band without permit (1) and not scanning for temperature when entering a premises (1).

“This increased the total number of compounds that have been issued by the PBT since Feb 2021 until today to 261 compounds,” the statement read. — DayakDaily
