The individuals questioned also included medical officers, police personnel involved in the arrest and seizure, as well as representatives from the school.

In a statement issued today, Saifullizan said the investigation was ongoing, with police continuing to take the necessary investigative steps while taking into account the suspect’s health condition.

“The suspect is still receiving treatment at a hospital, and further investigative action would be carried out subject to the advice and assessment of medical officers.

“Police are continuing their investigative actions, taking into consideration the suspect’s health condition and subject to the advice and assessment of medical officers, while ensuring that all applicable legal procedures are complied with,” he said.

Saifullizan stressed that the investigation was being conducted professionally, carefully and comprehensively, taking into account all relevant statements and evidence.

“Any further action would be based on the facts obtained and the provisions of the law in force,” he added.

In the incident that occurred on Wednesday (Oct 21), a 16-year-old teenager allegedly attacked a teacher during an ongoing class at the international school.

The teenager reportedly livestreamed the incident on social media, with the recording, which lasted 12 minutes and six seconds, showing the attack from his perspective.

The video was subsequently removed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Police are investigating the case under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon and Section 6(1) of the Explosives Act 1957.

The teenager was detained on the same day and later released on police bail.

The injured teacher was treated at a hospital and was reportedly recovering in stable condition.

Meanwhile, Saifullizan urged the public to respect the privacy of all parties involved, particularly the victim and students.

He cautioned against sharing identities, photographs or personal information that could lead to the identification of those involved, especially minors.

“PDRM also takes seriously the sensitivities of all parties, particularly the welfare of the victim and students involved,” he said.

Saifullizan reaffirmed the Sarawak police contingent’s commitment to ensuring that the investigation was conducted fairly, objectively and in accordance with the rule of law. — DayakDaily
