SRI AMAN, April 17: The police are actively looking for a 38-year-old man who is suspected of sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl on April 10 at an old cemetery in Kampung Kubal, Betong.
Sri Aman District Police Chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the suspect has been identified as Andrew Jarau.
“On April 10, at around 6.43pm, IPD Sri Aman received a police report regarding an incident involving a six-year-old girl who was believed to be a victim of sexual abuse.
“The incident happened at an old cemetery in Kampung Kubal, Betong and the suspect fled after the incident,” said Mathew in a statement today, adding that the suspect has been added to the police’s wanted list.
Further police investigations are being conducted under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences against Children Act 2017.
