Police detained local woman, foreign man over drugs possession

The seized drugs and a passport belong to the male suspect.

MIRI, Aug 23: A local woman and a foreign man was detained by police this morning after drugs with street value of RM12,000 were found in their possession.

The arrest was made at a house in Kampung Lereng Bukit, along the Pujut-Lutong road in a raid at 10.30am.

Miri Police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah disclosed that the case is being classified under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.


The duo, aged 41 and 35, were arrested by the police following a tip-off received earlier.

“Drugs seized were methamphetamine in the form of fluids and lumps,” he said.

Both suspects were tested positive for drugs. The male suspect has five previous offences related to drugs. — DayakDaily
