Police compounds 4 delivery men for defying MCO

SIBU, Feb 4: Call it sheer ignorance of the law or purposely taking chances.

Four delivery men aged between 17 to 43, were today fined RM1,000 each for defying Movement Control Order by sitting close to each other on the front seat of a lorry.

Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said at about 10.30am, a police MCO enforcement team led by Sibu Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division (JPJKK) DSP Ariffin Bahar Siin spotted a lorry at Jalan High Street.


“Upon inspection, the team found four persons sitting on the front row of the lorry where physical distancing was not possible,” he said.

The four men who were working for a company were later issued with a RM1,000 compound each under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in the Area of Infection Area) (No.2) Regulations 2021. — DayakDaily
