Police arrest serial grave robbers, seize jewellery

MIRI, Nov 9: Police have apprehended three individuals for their alleged involvement in grave robbing activities and seized valuables worth RM5,000.

The valuables were recovered from a jewellery shop here.


“We have also placed the jeweller under police custody for questioning,” Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said when contacted.

With the arrests, police believe they have solved three cases in connection with grave robbing in Miri.

The three suspects, aged between 16 and 27, were picked up from various locations in Miri during police raids that kicked off at 5pm on Friday.

“We expect more arrests after this,” Lim said.

The offence is being investigated under Section 297 of the Penal Code for trespassing on burial places and 379 of the Penal Code for theft. — DayakDaily
